A Green Theme

Posted 17/10/2016

It's always a delight to be part of the award winning World Inspired Tents Open Weekend & fly my bunting in their fabulous tipis.

The stunning floral displays above were provided by Brompton Buds

It's also a chance for me to indulge in some styling, which I love to do. The theme this time was green with whites & creams so I used a lot of herbs, creating a lovely aroma on the tables. Potted plants are a stylish & economic way of decorating your tables because you can re-use them at home, plant them in your garden or give them to guests as favours.

For my round table I used hessian runners, which I printed with a patterned roller & chalk paint. The centrepiece is a ring of garden foliage, limes & grapes around a log slice. Instead of candlesticks, you could have a hurricane vase, lantern or a collection of candles in different sized jars. Sarah Lauren PhotographySarah Lauren Photography

Another pretty way to enhance your tables is to use vintage bottles, ideally filled with seasonal, locally grown flowers but if you can't find any in winter, a few supermarket blooms can still look pretty. I added some ferns & herbs for a rustic look.

All the place settings for the tables continue the green theme using simple sprigs of herbs, botanical infusion drinks & place names written on leaves or handmade paper. I made bespoke wildflower seed packets & jam jars as favours with a green & cream stripe ribbon on jars & napkins.
